SALMON
17"x22" Poster Print Inspired By Washington's Salmon By Katrina Nolan (wooden hanger included)
"Washington state is home to five species of salmon: Coho, Chum, Chinook, Pink, and Sockeye. As an effort to preserve the local wildlife, fisheries and laws have been put in place to maintain a healthy ecosystem. According to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), these salmon species are protected under the Endangered Species Act. ""SALMON"" combines a striking fuchsia with a deep navy to represent the salmon that live in the Pacific Northwest's waters. The blue component acts as an info graphic as it lists details and statistics about the local salmon. In contrast, the fuchsia letters grab the viewer's attention as it stands out not only in color, but in the choppy letter style and paper-feel of the scanned in elements. With this work, I hope to bring awareness to a small fraction of the diversity in Washington's aquatic life and their protected nature."
